Gate Pay has officially launched its Merchant MCP (Model Context Protocol) service, advancing the real-world adoption of AI Agents in payment operations. As a key capability module designed for enterprise merchants, the service standardizes high-frequency operational functions into MCP-compliant tools. This enables merchants to use AI Agents to perform queries and execute tasks via natural language across customer service, finance, and operations scenarios—enhancing overall efficiency, streamlining workflows, and enabling automated merchant operations.
In terms of permissions and security design, Gate Pay introduces Restricted Access Keys (RAK) tailored for MCP use cases. Merchants can flexibly configure which tools and permission scopes are accessible to AI Agents based on specific business roles and scenarios, ensuring all actions are executed under the principle of least privilege. The system also incorporates built-in idempotency checks, rate limiting, and risk control mechanisms, along with comprehensive audit logs to ensure every operation is secure and traceable.
From a product capability perspective, the current MVP version supports three core tools: querying multi-asset account balances, retrieving order and transaction details, and initiating full or partial refunds. Looking ahead, Gate Pay will continue to expand its suite of payment-related tools while enhancing its permission framework and authentication mechanisms to support a broader range of merchant use cases.
In terms of ecosystem compatibility, Gate Pay Merchant MCP provides a standard MCP server that supports integration with mainstream AI Agent platforms such as Cursor, Claude, and OpenClaw. With a single integration, merchants can reuse payment operation capabilities across multiple AI environments.
Gate has now established a comprehensive architecture spanning six core modules: centralized trading (CEX), decentralized trading (DEX), wallet infrastructure (Wallet), on-chain payments (Pay), real-time information (News), and on-chain and market data (Info). Through a unified interface framework, these capabilities are made accessible to AI Agents, enabling them to complete the full workflow—from information retrieval and analysis to decision-making and trade execution, within a single platform.
Within this framework, the launch of Merchant MCP further strengthens the “execution layer” capabilities of AI Agents, allowing them to directly participate in real payment and operational processes and accelerating their deployment in real-world business scenarios. Backed by Gate’s long-standing expertise in trading, liquidity, and risk management, Gate Pay provides a secure and robust infrastructure foundation for Merchant MCP. Meanwhile, its standardized interface design significantly lowers integration barriers, enabling merchants to adopt and leverage AI Agent capabilities more efficiently.
