26% of Large Tankers Blocked in Persian Gulf Since Iran Conflict in February Have Escaped

According to Bloomberg shipping data compiled on May 29, 29 of the 109 large tankers (capacity of 700,000 barrels or more) stranded in the Persian Gulf since the Iran conflict erupted on February 28 have successfully navigated through the Strait of Hormuz. The escape rate represents approximately 26% of the blocked vessels, which remain gradually departing through slow and covert methods despite the strategic waterway remaining effectively closed to normal traffic.
