According to Aztec Labs, the company has acquired Obsidion, the team behind ZKPassport. The Obsidion team will continue developing ZKPassport while leading new consumer-facing product initiatives, with the protocol remaining open-source.

ZKPassport enables users to prove age, nationality, or sanctions compliance based on government-issued identity documents without uploading personal data to any server or leaving user devices. The protocol supports over 130 countries and regions.
