According to Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on May 29, he expressed strong disappointment over the U.S. announcement designating two major Brazilian criminal organizations as foreign terrorist groups. Lula stated that while these groups are terrorists to Brazilian society, Brazil will independently combat organized crime without U.S. intervention, and will not accept being treated as a child.
