According to sources familiar with the matter, on May 27, ByteDance clarified that employees in its Seed division can choose to receive year-end bonuses in the form of Douyin stock, priced at $13 per share. The company stated this is not a stock purchase program but rather an optional payment method for annual bonuses.

Seed, ByteDance's core AI research team established in 2023, leads the development of the Douyin large language model and focuses on multimodal models and embodied AI research.
