Chinese Hacker Sentenced to 4 Years for Controlling 157 Government Websites, Used USDT to Launder 42 Million Yuan

According to BlockBeats, on April 23, a court in Qujiang District, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province sentenced hacker Zhou for illegally controlling over 150 servers across 157 government and enterprise entities, injecting malicious code to redirect users to offshore pornography sites.

To evade detection, Zhou used cryptocurrency to settle all proceeds and distributed funds across multiple crypto wallets. Authorities traced the digital currency through blockchain forensics, confiscating virtual assets equivalent to 42.1 million yuan (including USDT) and recovering 28 million yuan in illegal gains. Zhou was sentenced to four years and four months imprisonment for unauthorized computer system access. Other suspects remain under investigation.
