Anthropic has launched Claude Managed Agents, offering fully managed infrastructure and multi-agent coordination, which greatly simplifies the underlying architecture needed for development. The company claims it can help businesses accelerate production by tenfold, actively moving to capture the enterprise-grade AI market.

AI tech giant Anthropic has launched Claude Managed Agents to help enterprises build and deploy AI Agents more easily. This tool provides developers with plug-and-play infrastructure, simplifying the complex processes that have previously hindered automating work tasks, and it claims it can increase the speed at which companies bring products into production by ten times.

What are the features of Claude Managed Agents?

According to the official article, when typical enterprises develop agent systems, they usually need to spend several months handling infrastructure, state management, and permission setup.

Claude Managed Agents abstracts these complex underlying architectures, so developers only need to define the agents’ tasks and guardrails—the platform will automatically handle the rest of the operations.

Its main features include the following areas:

Feature 1: Fully managed security infrastructure

Claude Managed Agents provides production-grade execution environments, automatically handling secure sandbox execution and verification, allowing language models to access files, execute code, and browse the web in protected cloud containers.

Feature 2: Support for long-running autonomous operation

Claude Managed Agents is designed for asynchronous work that needs to run for extended periods. The agents can operate autonomously for hours, and come with a persistent file system and conversation history, preserving execution progress and output results even if the connection drops midway.

Feature 3: Multi-agent coordination and governance tools

Claude Managed Agents has the ability to start and direct other agents to process work in parallel. The platform includes governance tools such as identity management, scope-based permissions, and execution tracking, ensuring the security of agents when accessing real systems.

How does Claude Managed Agents work?

Regarding how Claude Managed Agents actually operates, the official documentation breaks it down into the following steps:

  • Create an agent: Developers define the model, system prompts, and tools. After it’s created, it can be referenced repeatedly across different sessions.
  • Set up an environment: Configure cloud containers, pre-install software packages, and set network access rules in advance.
  • Start a session: Start an execution instance that references the above agent and environment configurations to perform specific tasks.
  • Send events and stream responses: Send user messages as events. The model autonomously executes tools and returns the results, and the history is also retained on the server side.
  • Guide or interrupt: During execution, users can send additional events to guide the agent, or directly interrupt to change the execution direction.

Bridging the technical gap—Notion tests it first

Claude platform engineering lead Katelyn Lesse noted that large-scale deployment of agents is a highly complex distributed systems engineering problem. With the ready-made underlying architecture provided by Anthropic, customers’ engineers can focus their efforts on core business and product development.

An Anthropic official article further explains that in older AI Agents designs, language models and execution tools are often bound within the same container, which makes system maintenance difficult.

With the new architecture separating the computation model from the execution environment, it not only significantly reduces the time-to-first-token latency, but also allows agents to flexibly connect to the enterprise’s own virtual private cloud, while improving security and preventing malicious code from accessing sensitive credentials.

In real-world applications, the productivity startup Notion has shown how to use this new service to drive customer onboarding features.

During the demonstration, Notion product manager Eric Liu handed a long list of tasks to Claude Managed Agents to handle, and it began completing each step one by one. Developers can also directly use the Claude platform dashboard to view the agents’ working status and the tools being used in real time.

Tech giants race for the enterprise AI market

Recently, tech companies have been throwing resources into capturing the enterprise-grade AI market. **This February, OpenAI launched the **Frontier platform, and **in March this year, Nvidia also followed the OpenClaw shrimp-raising trend and released the open-source NemoClaw for OpenClaw, providing an open model and an isolated sandbox environment that adds data privacy and security protections for AI Agents.

These moves show that the industry is actively building more scalable and secure AI infrastructure for enterprises, accelerating the full rollout of AI across business use cases.
