According to Caixin, on May 12, Erik Kurzweil, director of the European External Action Service’s Asia-Pacific Department, addressed the “2026 China-Europe Relations Forum: Crossing the Turning Point” in Beijing. He stated that cooperation is an inevitable choice for Europe and China, citing global challenges including geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and climate issues. Kurzweil emphasized the need to avoid further complications in bilateral relations and find a constructive, balanced path forward.
