According to Iran Football Federation chief Mehdi Taj, on May 9, Iran released 10 conditions for participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The conditions include requirements that all players and coaching staff, particularly those who served in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, must obtain visas without complications and pass through immigration without police questioning. The federation also demands that accompanying journalists and Iranian fans have clear visa procedures resolved.
Additionally, Iran requires the highest level of security at airports, hotels, transportation routes, and stadiums to prevent incidents similar to those previously reported in Australia. The federation stipulated that only official flags be permitted in venues, with the Iranian national flag exclusively allowed. Iran also mandated that its national anthem be played completely and without interruption at all matches, and that press conference questions be limited to match tactics and technical matters.
