According to Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei on May 30, Iran rejected Western ultimatums regarding the Strait of Hormuz and declared that U.S. sea blockades are illegal from the outset. Baghaei confirmed that since March 1, the Strait of Hormuz has operated under Iran's special measures, requiring commercial vessels to coordinate with Iranian authorities before passage. He emphasized that Iran and Oman, as littoral states, maintain responsibility for the waterway's security and international navigation safety.
