Mistral AI Acquires Austrian AI Startup Emmi AI on Tuesday to Expand Industrial Capabilities

According to Reuters, Mistral AI acquired Emmi AI, an Austrian artificial intelligence startup based in Linz, on Tuesday to strengthen its industrial solutions for European customers. The acquisition price was not disclosed.

Emmi AI completed Austria's largest funding round in 2025, raising 15 million euros. The startup specializes in AI models designed to handle complex physical problems such as airflow, heat transfer, and material stress in industrial settings. Mistral AI said the acquisition will reinforce its strategy to serve European customers, focusing on engineering design and manufacturing tasks that remain relatively underexplored by the AI industry.
