According to a statement by Nigerian President Tinubu on May 16, Islamic State senior leader Abu-Bilal al-Manuki has been killed in a joint military operation conducted by Nigeria and the United States. The combined forces struck his residence in the Lake Chad Basin, killing the wanted extremist leader and several of his deputies, according to initial assessments.
