Based on the Consensus 2026 conference records, Chengdiao Fan’s talk focused on Pi Network’s blockchain infrastructure, its identity verification system, and practical application patterns in the AI era. In the talk, Chengdiao Fan said that Pi Network has built identity verification infrastructure since 2019, and its design goals include supporting real user data needed for AI governance, trusted human participation, and user acquisition mechanisms.
The talk also explained that Pi Network is positioned as foundational infrastructure to drive practical Web3 products, not limited to token trading functions. The talk was held from 11:15 AM to 11:35 AM Eastern Time in the US, on the Convergence stage.
According to the conference’s official agenda, Kokalys participated in a panel discussion on May 7, with the discussion centered on how digital platforms can distinguish real users from AI-generated accounts in the context of widespread AI system adoption.
In the discussion, Kokalys cited Pi Network’s quantitative data, stating that the network has already accumulated 18 million users who have passed KYC verification, and more than 526 million KYC verification tasks that have been completed, positioning the above data as an identity verification architecture that cannot be replicated by pure-code blockchains.
According to Pi Network’s official introduction, the core design features of its native KYC (know your customer) mechanism include:
· Users complete KYC verification once, and identity information can be reused across different applications
· Platforms can filter out non-real users through verified identities without collecting additional personal data
· The mechanism confirms the authenticity of identity while not disclosing personally identifiable information externally
According to Pi Network’s official announcement, Pi Network’s Protocol 23 plan will launch on May 11, 2026, bringing full smart contract functionality to the Pi blockchain. The two founders’ public talks at Consensus 2026 were delivered immediately ahead of the official go-live of the technical milestone.
