The bridge was shut down to prevent further losses after accepting unverified cross-chain messages. The attack extended a series of smart contract exploits affecting the crypto space in April, with daily trading volume for SYND spiking to $2.9M in the hours following the incident. The team had not disclosed the total value of assets lost at the time of the announcement.
