xAI launched Grok Build, a beta coding agent for professional developers, on May 26, 2026. The tool is now available to SuperGrok and X Premium+ subscribers, competing directly with OpenAI's Codex and Anthropic's Claude Code.

Grok Build operates with a plan-before-action philosophy, allowing developers to review proposed changes as code diffs before execution. The agent supports parallel subagents that simultaneously tackle different parts of large tasks, and integrates with existing workflows through MCP (Model Context Protocol) server support, AGENTS.md files, and plugin systems without requiring environment reconfiguration.
