ASML Denies EUV Lithography Machines Shipped to China on Friday; Dutch Government Backs Export Controls

According to Reuters, ASML denied allegations on Friday (June 19) that its extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines have been shipped to China, contradicting concerns raised by U.S. officials. The Dutch semiconductor equipment maker stated via email that it "has never shipped any EUV lithography machines to China, nor any parts, modules, or equipment specifically designed for EUV lithography machines." U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick had previously expressed concern that such advanced equipment might have reached China in violation of American-led export controls.

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a separate statement affirming strict enforcement of export regulations under the EU Dual-Use Regulation and national measures, stating that "all equipment, parts and technologies covered by these regulations require a license" and intervention will be taken when necessary.
