British Airways Warns Ticket Prices Must Rise as Aviation Fuel Costs Double Since February

According to Financial Times, British Airways CEO Sean Doyle warned on June 7 during the International Air Transport Association annual meeting that ticket prices must rise if aviation fuel costs remain elevated. Fuel prices have doubled since the Iran conflict began in February, with the Strait of Hormuz closure disrupting approximately 40% of Europe's aviation fuel supply. Competitor Virgin Atlantic has already imposed fuel surcharges of 50 pounds on economy fares, 180 pounds on premium economy, and 360 pounds on business class.
