BTC rebounds 0.64% in 15 minutes: technical oversold bounce coincides with short liquidations

BTC-2.76%

From 15:00 to 15:15 UTC on June 4, 2026, BTC recorded a +0.64% return. The price rebounded from 63,851.9 USDT to 64,373.0 USDT, with a range of 0.81%. The gain during this period was significantly higher than the full-day increase (+0.26%), showing characteristics of an independent repair, but the overall market remains in an extreme oversold state.

The main driving force behind this move was a technical oversold rebound. The RSI reading fell to 18.20, breaking below the 30 oversold threshold and setting a short-term extreme. Historical data show that when RSI is below 20, a 48- to 72-hour period typically triggers a 5%-12% technical correction. Meanwhile, the price touched the 0.786 Fibonacci key support level ($64,677), drawing in buy-side participation and triggering technical buy signals.

Second, short-sellers taking profits amplified the rally. The continuous declines over the prior three days caused short-term shorts to accumulate substantial unrealized gains. As the price neared the key technical support level, it triggered short covering, further squeezing shorts and magnifying the rebound. In addition, ongoing ETF outflows (a $3.4 billion per-week figure) left a vacuum in spot buying; in an extreme oversold environment, even a small amount of buying can drive a rapid rebound in price. On the macro front, the Fed maintaining high interest-rate expectations, combined with escalating geopolitical tensions involving Iran, pressured risk assets as oil prices broke above $90 per barrel, forming a medium- to long-term suppressive factor.

A short-term technical rebound may continue, but it lacks fundamental support. Key to watch are the effectiveness of the $64,677 support level and whether the $68,500 resistance level can be broken. Continue to track ETF fund flows and the non-farm payroll data. Short-term volatility risk remains, so it’s advisable to focus on subsequent tests of resistance levels and macro policy signals.
