China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets Pakistan Military Chief on May 25, Hails 75 Years of Ties

According to the Foreign Ministry website, on May 25, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party and Foreign Minister, met with Pakistan's Military Chief and Army Chief of Staff General Munir in Beijing. Wang welcomed the military chief's visit alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, noting this year marks the 75th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations. He emphasized that China-Pakistan friendship remains steadfast and unbreakable regardless of international changes, and praised the military's role in deepening bilateral cooperation.

Munir noted that Pakistan remains committed to advancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and expressed support for China's global initiatives, including the Belt and Road Initiative. He also briefed Wang on mediation efforts in the U.S.-Iran conflict, stating an agreement is nearing completion. Wang praised Pakistan's role as a trusted mediator and said China supports these efforts, adding that while difficult, peace will eventually prevail.
