According to Bloomberg, on June 5, CME Group Chief Executive Officer Terry Duffy expressed serious concern about perpetual futures recently approved by U.S. regulators. Duffy stated that perpetual futures have little practical use for institutional investors but expose retail traders to excessive risk. He disagreed with the CFTC's decision to approve the first batch of crypto perpetual futures following rapid review and said he contacted the CFTC chair to voice his concerns. Kalshi has already launched CFTC-approved perpetual futures, with multiple U.S. exchanges also discussing their own offerings.
