Colorado Resident Dies from Hantavirus on May 16; Contact with Rodents Suspected

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, on May 16, an adult resident in Douglas County, Colorado died after contracting hantavirus. Health officials stated that the patient contracted the virus through contact with rodents. The department clarified that the case is unrelated to the hantavirus outbreak aboard the cruise ship Hondieres and is currently investigating the incident.
