Comcast Announces NBCUniversal and Sky Spinoff on Monday, Denies Setup for Future Deals

According to CNBC, on Monday (June 29), Comcast announced plans to separate its media units NBCUniversal and Sky from its Xfinity cable, broadband and mobile business into independent publicly traded companies. Comcast co-CEO Brian Roberts said the separation is "the right move to put each company in the strongest position to create value" and explicitly denied that investors should view it as a potential setup for future acquisitions. "Absolutely not," Roberts stated when asked if the split could pave the way for deals, with co-CEO Mike Cavanagh echoing the denial.
