Crypto Exploit Losses Drop 90% in May to $68.3M, Down From April's $650M

According to blockchain security firm CertiK, crypto exploit losses in May 2026 reached $68.3 million, representing a nearly 90% decline from April's $650 million. The month marked the third consecutive period with losses below $100 million, with approximately $9.4 million in stolen funds recovered. Code vulnerabilities accounted for roughly 66% of total losses, while Verus Protocol and THORChain experienced the largest incidents with $11.5 million and $10.1 million losses respectively.
