According to Foresight News, Ethereum researchers led by Thomas Coratger have launched a post-quantum security transition plan. The initiative's first step is establishing a dedicated post-quantum public key registry to replace the current BLS signature scheme, providing quantum-attack resistance for validators.

The research was jointly authored by Coratger, Tom Wambsgans, Ladislaus, Thomas Thiery, and Justin Drake. The proposed technical approach focuses on XMSS (Extended Merkle Signature Scheme). This work has been added to Ethereum's Strawmap roadmap to address potential threats from large-scale quantum computers.
