GateNews

According to Jin10, on May 29, the European Commission announced it would unfreeze €16.4 billion in frozen EU funds for Hungary. The amount comprises €10 billion from the "Recovery and Resilience Facility," €4.2 billion tied to cohesion fund conditions, and €2.2 billion released following Hungary's progress on university autonomy, said Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The unfrozen funds, equivalent to roughly 13% of Hungary's annual budget, will support small and medium enterprises, transportation, healthcare, education, and energy infrastructure. The move follows Hungary's commitment to join the European Public Prosecutor's Office, strengthen anti-corruption institutions, and reform public procurement law.
