Guatemala Agrees to Joint U.S. Military Operations Against Drug Cartels on May 28

GateNews

According to New York Times, Guatemala agreed on May 28 to conduct joint military operations with the U.S. military against drug trafficking organizations. The agreement followed talks last week between Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who discussed air strikes and other military actions set to begin as early as next month.

The U.S. Defense Department is planning to expand the initiative to Honduras as the next target country, according to multiple sources cited by the publication.
