According to blockchain researcher Specter’s disclosure reported by Bits.media, a hacking group compromised X accounts—including those of investor Keith Gill, Pepe the Frog creator Matt Furie, and WinRAR—to promote their own tokens and conduct cross-chain money laundering, generating over $14 million in total proceeds. The group’s activities involved Solana, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Tron, and Hyperliquid networks. Specter also found links connecting the group to a 2024 phishing attack that caused victims to lose $2.45 million in wstETH.
