Hang Seng Index Opens Lower by 113 Points on June 22; Interest-Rate Stocks Continue Decline

On June 22, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index opened lower by 113 points (down 0.47%) at 23,811, while the National Index fell 40 points (down 0.51%) to 7,935 and the Tech Index dropped 9 points (down 0.28%) to 4,595. Among 93 blue-chip stocks, 54 opened lower. Interest-rate-sensitive stocks resumed selling pressure, with Wharf Properties (01997) falling 7.5% to HK$20.26, the worst-performing blue chip at the open. The Hang Seng Tech Index continued its weakness as tech stocks broadly declined.
