Iran Rejects Western Ultimatum, Confirms Hormuz Strait Operations Under Iranian Control Since March 1

GateNews

According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei on May 30, Iran rejected Western ultimatum rhetoric and confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz has been operating under Iranian special measures since March 1. Baghaei stated that Iran makes decisions based on its citizens' interests and rights, and rejected Western use of prescriptive language toward the country. Commercial vessels must now coordinate with Iranian authorities before transiting the strait.

Baghaei characterized the U.S. naval blockade as illegal from the outset, violating ceasefire agreements and disrupting freedom of navigation. He emphasized Iran and Oman's responsibility in managing the waterway and maintaining maritime security for international shipping.
