Maersk Halts Hormuz Strait Transits Amid U.S.-Israel-Iran Tensions, Extra Costs Exceed $500M Monthly

According to CCTV News, Maersk, the Danish shipping giant, has suspended vessel transits through the Strait of Hormuz due to escalating geopolitical tensions, shifting cargo to land-based transport routes. The company's Chief Commercial Officer Carsten Kildal stated that additional operational costs have surpassed $500 million monthly, driven by higher fuel prices and increased shipping expenses on alternative routes. While the suspension protects crew safety, Maersk will pass some costs to customers who simultaneously face rising raw material prices.
