Microsoft Azure and AWS Face Strict EU Antitrust Scrutiny Next Week

According to Bloomberg, the European Commission will publish preliminary findings as early as next week that are expected to indicate Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services may meet the conditions for regulation under the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA). The EU is anticipated to make a final decision by the end of 2026, though the timeline could shift. If approved for full DMA regulation, both services would face obligations including interoperability requirements and restrictions on customer lock-in and self-preferencing practices.
