Ningbo Customs Seizes Over 400 Cryptocurrency Mining Rigs in Smuggling Ring Crackdown

According to ChainCatcher citing Zhejiang Daily, Ningbo Customs Anti-Smuggling Bureau recently busted multiple smuggling rings and seized over 400 cryptocurrency mining rigs, including Antminer L9 and Bitmain devices. The investigation began when customs inspectors discovered mining rigs misdeclared as industrial circuit breakers in cross-border parcels. Through data analysis and tip-off tracking, authorities dismantled the smuggling network operated by a gang led by Liao. The group purchased mining equipment from overseas suppliers, disassembled units for misdeclaration through international courier channels, then reassembled them domestically or sent them to hidden mining operations in Xinjiang and Hunan. The smugglers used USDT and other cryptocurrencies for cross-border payments to evade fund monitoring.
