According to Beating, Nous Research released Hermes Agent v0.16.0 on June 5, introducing WebSocket-based remote gateway connectivity with OAuth and credential-based authentication, enabling users to run the desktop interface on lightweight devices while hosting AI compute and API keys on remote servers.
The accompanying web management panel was upgraded to a full-featured backend system, eliminating the need for SSH server access to manually edit configuration files. Users can now enable or disable MCP tool directories, bind messaging channels (Telegram, Discord, Slack), manage credentials and webhooks, and adjust system memory directly through the browser. The release also includes complete Simplified Chinese localization for the desktop interface.
