Qatar Says Temporary Hormuz Strait Transit Fees Negotiable, Opposes Permanent Charges

GateNews
According to Bloomberg, Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated on Saturday that while Doha opposes permanent transit fees for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, temporary charges for activities such as mine clearance could be considered. He indicated that permanent levies would impact consumers and rejected any such permanent fee arrangements, but short-term charges aimed at maintaining the critical waterway's operations may be open to discussion.
