According to The Korea Times, Samsung Electro-Mechanics and LG Innotek reported stronger first-quarter earnings driven by surging demand for AI-related semiconductor substrates and components. Samsung Electro-Mechanics posted 3.2 trillion won ($2.18 billion) in revenue and 280.6 billion won ($191 million) in operating profit, while LG Innotek reported 5.5 trillion won ($3.76 billion) in revenue and 295.3 billion won ($201 million) in operating profit. Demand for advanced substrates has tightened capacity, with Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ advanced FC-BGA substrates facing demand exceeding current output by more than 50 percent, prompting the company to expand production capacity.
