SpaceX Options Trading Surges to Third-Most Active U.S. Stock Derivative on June 16, Up 17%

According to Bloomberg, on June 16, SpaceX options became one of the most actively traded derivatives in U.S. markets on its third trading day, with the stock rising as much as 17% at open. By 10:35 a.m. ET, SpaceX options volume exceeded 600,000 contracts, ranking as the third-most traded single-stock option in America. Implied volatility for three-month options stood at approximately 110%–115%, driven by investor appetite for higher-priced call spreads. The most active contracts were Thursday-expiry calls with a $220 strike price, trading 25,000 contracts representing 2.5 million shares.
