SpaceX Plans to Deploy 1GW Space AI Computing Power by End of 2027, Nokia Emerges as Key Infrastructure Partner

SpaceX announced plans to deploy 1 gigawatt of space-based computing power annually by the end of 2027, a capacity equivalent to a large nuclear power plant, to support space data center operations for AI processing. The initiative requires substantial ground infrastructure beyond Starlink's existing network, particularly specialized base stations to receive signals from space and distribute processed data via fiber optic networks.

Nokia is positioned as a critical supplier in this supply chain, being the only major base station vendor that has deeply integrated Nvidia's CUDA ecosystem into its infrastructure design. This integration makes Nokia an irreplaceable node in the space-to-ground data transmission pipeline, contrasting with competitors like Ericsson and Huawei, which rely on different chip architectures.
