According to The Block, the wife of Sebastien Borget, co-founder and chief operating officer of metaverse project The Sandbox, was targeted in an attempted kidnapping at her residence in Villenoy, France this week. Suspects posing as a delivery worker gained entry to the property before five masked accomplices attempted to force her into a vehicle; the attack was thwarted after neighbors heard her calls for help and intervened. Police arrested two suspects, with four others remaining at large. Initial investigations suggest the incident may be cryptocurrency-related. French authorities have recorded 41 cryptocurrency-related kidnappings or attempted kidnappings since January 1, 2026.
