TON Native Token Renamed to Gram on June 1, Blockchain Name Unchanged

TON9.48%

According to BlockBeats, on June 1, Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced that TON's native token has been renamed from TON to Gram. The team stated that "Gram" was the original naming for the native currency in TON's initial whitepaper, and the rebranding aims to return to the project's original vision.

The transition is expected to be completed gradually over approximately three weeks, with infrastructure, wallets, and ecosystem applications updating the token name accordingly. TON emphasized that only the native token's brand name is changing; the TON blockchain network itself will continue to operate under the "TON (The Open Network)" designation.
