According to CCTV, the U.S. Central Command warned on May 29 that it would conduct military operations near the Strait of Hormuz, stating it would strike vessels participating in or supporting mine-laying activities in self-defense.

The command issued the warning through the Joint Maritime Information Center, citing Iran's attempts to obstruct mine-clearing operations and safe passage. As of May 29, U.S. naval operations have forced 115 commercial vessels to change course.
