U.S. Department of Justice Approves Paramount's $110 Billion Acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the department approved Paramount Global's acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on Friday, clearing a major regulatory hurdle for the $110 billion media transaction. The DOJ's antitrust division concluded that the merger is unlikely to harm market competition or consumer interests. The combined company will own CNN, TBS, Warner Bros. film studios, and HBO Max streaming platform. Paramount targets completion by September 2026. California's attorney general office said the state remains investigating the deal, and the European Commission launched a first-stage review with a July 14 deadline.
