US May CPI Hits 4.2% Annual, Core CPI at 2.9% on June 10

The U.S. May Consumer Price Index (CPI) data was released on June 10. Annual CPI came in at 4.2%, matching the expected forecast and up from the previous reading of 3.8%. Monthly CPI stood at 0.5%, in line with expectations but lower than the prior 0.6%.

Core CPI, which excludes volatile energy and food prices, registered at 2.9% annually, matching expectations, while monthly core CPI was 0.2%, below the expected 0.3% and down from the prior 0.4%.
