Vitalik Points Out Ethereum State Storage Challenge: Proof Data Nearly Equals State Size

According to ChainCatcher, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin commented that even if users store data off-chain and the blockchain stores only hashes with transactions containing proofs, the data needed to verify those proofs must still be stored and updated, and ultimately reaches nearly the same size as the state itself. Buterin noted that solutions exist but involve multiple components and require trade-offs compared to current Ethereum design.
