Beijing Woman Sentenced to 4 Years for Romance Scam, Loses 200,000 Yuan to Cryptocurrency Margin Trading Liquidation

According to Beijing Evening News, a woman in her 60s in Beijing was sentenced to four years in prison on fraud charges after defrauding a man of over 200,000 yuan through romance scams and subsequently losing all funds in cryptocurrency margin trading. The woman impersonated a woman in her 20s working at a government ministry to establish a romantic relationship with the victim, using pretexts of studying abroad and family illness to extract money. The Haidian District Court ordered her to compensate the victim for economic losses and pay a fine.
