According to Brazilian media, on June 14, Brazil's Superior Court of Justice (STJ) rejected the release request of Mirelis Yoselyn Diaz Zerpa, a defendant in the "Bitcoin Pharaoh" Glaidson Acácio dos Santos case. Her legal team had sought house arrest instead of detention, citing the prison's failure to provide a vegan diet. The court ruled that dietary preference is a personal choice and does not constitute sufficient legal grounds to lift preventive detention.
Diaz Zerpa faces charges of involvement in organized crime and financial crimes related to investigations including "Kryptos," "Valeta," and "Flyer One." Prosecutors flagged that she fled to the U.S. for nearly four years before being extradited due to visa issues. Court documents note she conducted cryptocurrency transfers worth approximately 20 million Brazilian reals while abroad; prosecutors contend she retains capability to access and transfer digital assets, presenting an ongoing flight risk.
