Canada Restricts Livestock Imports from U.S. Following Second Screwworm Case in Texas on June 5

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, on June 5, Canada implemented temporary restrictions on livestock from affected U.S. regions, including animals raised in Texas or that passed through the state within the past 21 days, in response to New World screwworm cases. The U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed a second infected cow on a ranch approximately 9 kilometers from the location of the first case, detected earlier in a 3-week-old calf in Zavala County.
