CME Energy Futures Volume and Open Interest Fall Simultaneously on June 2

According to CME data on June 2, energy futures volumes and open interest declined in tandem. WTI crude oil volume fell 203,624 contracts to 713,663 hands, with open interest down 2,953 contracts to 2,025,957 hands. Brent crude dropped 40,654 contracts to 128,775 hands, while open interest fell 21,019 contracts to 226,538 hands. Natural gas volume decreased 74,421 contracts to 372,748 hands, with open interest declining 4,113 contracts to 1,663,632 hands. By contrast, precious metals and copper futures saw reduced intraday trading activity but modest gains in open interest positions.
