According to Jin10, Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd suspended all bookings to and from Cuba on Sunday, citing a U.S. executive order signed on May 1. The move could jeopardize up to 60% of Cuba’s cargo volume, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The executive order expanded U.S. sanctions on Cuba to cover foreign entities conducting business in Cuba’s energy, defense, financial services, and other economic sectors. The suspension marks the latest economic pressure on Cuba amid ongoing fuel supply constraints from U.S. restrictions.
