Norwegian Offshore Oil Workers Threaten Strike from June 5 if Wage Talks Fail

Norwegian unions announced that approximately 8% of offshore oil and gas workers plan to strike from June 5 if state-mediated wage negotiations collapse this week. According to Offshore Norway, an industry representative group, about 8,100 union members are involved in oil production. In a first phase, 617 workers would participate in the strike, with options to expand further if talks break down. The organization said it was too early to assess how the potential strike would impact production.
