Peru Fish Meal FOB Price Hits Record $2,900 per Ton, Up 77% Since May 2025

According to China International Capital Corp (CITIC), on June 3, Peru's super fish meal FOB export price surged to an all-time high of $2,900 per ton, up 77% from $1,638 per ton in May 2025 - exceeding the average 60% price increase typically seen during El Niño years. Global fish meal exports are projected to decline 15%-20% from April to September 2026 due to production cuts in Peru. Despite potential modest increases from Chilean and Nordic producers, the shortfall cannot fully offset Peru's near 50% export reduction, creating significant supply pressure for import-dependent markets, particularly China, which concentrates purchases between May and September.
